Ergin Ataman talked for the first time directly about the offer made to him by Panathinaikos, he confirmed the talks with the Greek club and he admitted that he has a “good feeling” about the negotiations.
As he said to the Greek newspaper “Live Sports”: “It’s true that we talk and the only thing I can tell you is that I have a good feeling. We have some sincere talks and I can say that from the feedback I get, my feelings are positive. I will also say that for me if I leave Efes, Panathinaikos will be my first choice”.
Ataman even went further, comparing himself with Zeljko Obradovic, who won five EuroLeague titles with Panathinaikos: “If I come, I want to be the new Zeljko of Panathinaikos”.
Ataman’s contract with Anadolu Efes expires in the summer, he remains a contender for the Turkish league title, despite missing the EuroLeague playoffs, however, he has already said that maybe it would be for the best for him and the Turkish club to part ways.
As he stated just five days ago, after the last EuroLeague game for the season for Efes: “It seems like a journey at the end of the road”.
