Fenerbahce managed to tie things up by beating Olympiacos and going to Istanbul 1-1 in their best-of-five EuroLeague Playoffs series, and Tyler Dorsey could celebrate with his teammates.
The Greek shooting guard, who put Fener ahead late in the game and had 8 points and 3 assists in the winning Game 2 after going scoreless in Game 1, talked to Eurohoops and Antonis Stroggylakis following the victory. “We won the game, that’s it. There’s nothing else to it. We wanted the win, we got it done. Credit to all my teammates who stepped up. I got to be better. I’m glad we get to go home with a victory”, he said.
Asked about his lack of scoring in the playoffs so far, Tyler Dorsey (4.0 points on 2-9 shots and 4-4 free throws, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals in Game 1 and 2) is not preoccupied and believes that people should also focus on him providing in other areas of the game: “Nothing changed. I don’t just score. I do other things on the court so you got to talk about the other things and put my stats out there. I do other things on the court just like everybody else. You all only like to talk about the people who put up the points. That doesn’t matter to me because we got the win. And I affect the game in other ways: play defense, get steals, get rebounds. And I’m going to do all those other things when it’s not my night. As simple as that”, the former Oly player added.
Now the series move to Istanbul, where Fenerbahce can close it with the home-court advantage. “It’s going to be the same thing. Nothing changes. it’s going to come down to playing hard and not letting them get a lead early. It’s going to be different. We’ll see at our house. It’ll be way different”, the Greek shooting guard commented.
“There’s no boost. This is basketball. I’m focused, I’ve been before and it’s not about scoring. I said I do other things. If I don’t score, I have to find a way to affect the game. It’s not just about scoring”, he said before commenting on what is like facing Olympiacos in this series. “Never weird. I love it. It was a great set of games here. We got one, we did our job. We wanted to get one. We are happy with that. It’s a long series. We’re going back home to feel our court”, Tyler Dorsey finally commented.
