Facundo Campazzo is expected to make his way back to Real Madrid this summer.
Barring an unexpected setback, the Argentine point guard will return to the team based in Spain’s capital as confirmed by Eurohoops sources. The projected reunion was first reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Hiring Quique Villalobos from the BDA agency and considering the excellent relationship of the retired player with the storied club emerged as the latest confirmation of his intentions to rejoin his former team.
Campazzo, 32, will leave plenty of money on the table refusing better offers from several European teams to eventually move his talents back to the Whites. Panathinaikos was among the teams interested to secure his services.
Despite previously surfaced rumors regarding Campazzo heading back to Madrid rejected by Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, the experienced floor general is indeed expected to return this summer.
Solid displays as a member of the Belgrade outfit stretched from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to the ongoing AdmiralBet ABA League campaign. Since landing at Crvena Zvezda in December, he averaged 15.0 points, 5.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per contest over nine appearances in the EuroLeague Regular Season. Tallying 13.8 points, 6.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per ABA game pushed his side into the Playoffs Semifinals of the regional league with a standing goal to reach the Finals.
Campazzo made his way to 152 NBA games, including eight appearances with the Dallas Mavericks alongside Luka Doncic earlier in the 2022-23 season. The Denver Nuggets were his first NBA team signing him from Madrid in 2020.
