KAUNAS– Olympiacos Piraeus forward Alec Peters experienced two defeats to AS Monaco in the 2022-23 regular season. Now, he’s looking to use them as an extra weapon ahead of the semifinal battle between the two sides Friday (19/5).
“For sure it motivates us,” Peters told Eurohops on the fact that Olympiacos lost both regular-season games vs. Monaco. “We’ve been doing that. Watching what happened in these games non-stop two make our adjustments. At the end of the day, this is the Final Four. It’s going to be a different atmosphere. I think we’ll have more fans than them.”
Peters made his first trip to the Final Four in his rookie season in EuroLeague with CSKA Moscow in 2019. It was a victorious one.
Several years later, he realizes how important it is to carry the experience not only of the games themselves but the whole festive atmosphere.
“I think a lot of the experience helps with the feelings and the emotions you get walking into the gym while knowing that this is the Final Four,” Peters said. “Knowing what you’re going to feel as a player. I know that a lot of the guys on the team that were last year in the Final Four feel the same emotions and the same excitement. It helps them. Knowing what to expect and knowing how to get back at the focus of the game”
‘I feel great right now,’ Peters mentioned on his mood. “Being in this building is amazing. We’ve finished a big series, a five-game series. We have the energy to play excellent after one week. We’re excited. It’s going to be fun.”
The Final Four is great for a reason,” Peters added. “And that’s because anything can happen. We really believe in our chances, on our team, and what we can do this season.”
