KAUNAS, Lithuania – Following the 2023 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship game featuring Olympiacos losing to Real Madrid in Zalgirio Arena, Sasha Vezenkov fittingly described the current situation for the Reds.
“I think in the last few minutes, we did not control the game offensively. We made some cheap… fast executions,” mentioned the season MVP and also a likely Final Four MVP if the result went the other way, “We didn’t make baskets. And then we allowed some easy shots for them. And in the end, we you got to the last shot, it’s 50-50. They have the class, they have the players to make those shots.”
“We are here because of one shot, they won the championship because of one shot,” added Vezenkov connecting recent favorable developments through the Playoffs series against Fenerbahce Beko to clutch makes of the Whites by Sergio Rodriguez and Sergio Llull, “So, that’s basketball.”
Vezenkov, 27, registered a game-high 29 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists, and one block in the losing effort.
“We have to keep working,” he said signaling an effort for potential future success, “We know it’s tough.”
