An unpleasant evening for FC Barcelona’s Sertac Sanli culminated with the Turkish center filing a complaint against robbery at a police station.
Sanli, 31, was a victim of two thieves on a motorcycle grabbing the watch from his wrist and rapidly escaping after midnight on Saturday, as detailed by El Caso. Fortunately, he was not injured. Going to the Mossos d’Esquadra police station, he filed a complaint valuing the stolen item at 25,000 euros.
Dealing with plenty of grab-and-run cases over recent weeks, the local police launched an investigation into the theft, securing footage from nearby security cameras. However, the thieves have not been identified.
The Barcelona center was robbed walking down Passeig de Gracia, one of the major avenues in Barcelona, generally a busy sight, especially during the daylight hours.
Sanli is expected to be available for Barca head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius in direct view of Spain’s Liga Endesa Playoffs and the Quarterfinals versus Valencia. Tipping up the best-of-three series opposite the Oranges, Game 1 will be played in Palau Blaugrana tonight, Monday (21:00 CET).
Helping his side clinch the top seed in the Playoffs bracket with one game left on the regular-season double-legged round-robin schedule, Sanli produced 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game over 29 ACB appearances in the 2022-23 edition of Spain’s top-tier division. In addition, he averaged 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with his side ranking fourth overall.
