It’s now official. Nikola Milutinov is leaving CSKA Moscow. On the club’s Twitter account, the Moscow team wished the Serbian big man the best of luck in his future career.
“Upon the expiration of his contract, center Nikola Milutinov leaves our team. the four-year path of the Serbian big man in our team has come to an end“, CSKA wrote.
Nikola Milutinov added that it is hard to say goodbye, but it is time to move on.
“It is hard to say goodbye to all the amazing teammates, friends, and fans that I met in CSKA and in Moscow. I enjoyed every minute of being and playing there. It was a big honor to play for such a great and historical club. But it’s time to move on. I wish all the best and good luck to everyone. I am sure that CSKA will be back on top in Europe and we will meet again“, Milutinov said.
The Serbian big man is officially a free agent and one of the biggest free agents in the European market, and Olympiacos already made an offer.
The two-year contract is on the table, and talks are ongoing, but no deal has been made yet, by Eurohoops sources. The offer presented by the Greek giant to the Serbian center is up to 1.4 million euros per season.
Milutinov started his professional career with Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, where he played from 2011 to 2015. During his time with Partizan, he showcased his potential and attracted the attention of various European clubs. In 2015, he signed with Olympiacos Piraeus, a Greek basketball team competing in the EuroLeague.
Milutinov played for five years for Olympiacos and emerged as one of the most dominant EuroLeague centers. With the Piraeus team, he won the championship in 2016 and reached the Euroleague final in 2017.
The 28-year-old joined CSKA as a free agent in 2020 and won the VTB United League MVP for the 2022-23 season.
In his last season in EuroLeague, Milutinov posted 7.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 16 games before CSKA exited the competition due to the war in Ukraine.
