Prepping for the transition from the 7DAYS EuroCup to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Dreamland Gran Canaria bids farewell to team captain Oliver Stevic.

Stevic, 39, will not continue with Gran Canaria following the conclusion of his contract, the team announced Monday.

“It has been a journey full of beautiful moments and it ended in the best possible way,” noted Stevic in a message to the fans of the team based in the Canary Islands.

The veteran power forward contributed 2.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.1 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over 11 appearances in the 2022-23 edition of EuroCup. Defeating Turk Telekom in the championship game and winning the competition, Gran Canaria became eligible for participation in the 2023-24 edition of the EuroLeague.

“When I arrived, not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would live the best moment of my career and have the honor of lifting the cup as captain of this great club,” added Stevic.

In Spain’s Liga Endesa, the team coached by Jaka Lakovic ranked sixth in the ACB Regular Season behind a 19-15 record. Clinching a berth in the Playoffs, it was swept by Real Madrid in the Quarterfinals best-of-three series. Stevic logged 14 appearances and averaged 1.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game.

The departing captain joined Gran Canaria midway through the 2020-21 season. He ended up with 36 games played in EuroCup and 74 games played in Liga Endesa.
