Olympiacos fans were waiting the team at their arena to celebrate with them winning the Greek League championship title after a game that was interrupted in Panathinaikos gym and despite the mood, the next day of the team was also in the forefront.

The crowd was chanting to Vezenkov to stay in the team forever and forget about the Sacramento Kings, star-point guard Kostas Sloukas and team captain Kostas Papanikolaou are free agents that’s why Olympiacos owners didn’t hesitate to express their wish to keep their team intact, after winning all the domestic titles in Greece and making it to the EuroLeague Final Four.

As Giorgos Aggelopoulos said to the media when asked about the future of Vezenkov and Sloukas: “Right now this is a night of celebrations. Let’s not worry. Let’s not look at the next day. It is a given that both players belong to Olympiacos. They must stay at Olympiacos. We want them and we will do everything.”

His brother and co-owner Panagiotis Angelopoulos added: “You got tired from what you went through during the game and you forgot Kostas Papanikolaou. It’s still a contract that has expired. I’m not going to name names, but we can’t forget him, our captain. As long as the two of us are together at Olympiakos, nothing worries us.”

Olympiacos already extended Vezenkov’s contract, however there’s no restriction on the money the team can spend. So the possibility of giving him an ever bigger salary, which is now estimated around 1,5 million euros net can’t be excluded, making his possible move to the NBA even more complicated.

Still, Vezenkov’s contract includes an NBA opt-out clause with a buy out which is more than one million euros.
