Luis Arbalejo is the heir of Chechu Mulero in Valencia, as the club has announced today.
Per the press release: Valencia Basket has reached an agreement for Luis Arbalejo to lead the Club’s sports section for the next 5 seasons, being responsible for an area whose structure will be reinforced for the next season.
Born in Pontevedra in 1982, Luis Arbalejo comes from working as a Scout Consultant for the NBA Utah Jazz franchise, in addition to being sports director of Lucentum Alicante, with responsibility for both his first team and the entity’s training categories, and accumulating a long career in the national level of basketball.
Graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and Senior Basketball Coach, he began working in offices in 2007, as technical director of CD Alcázar de Menorca.
His next step would be in Zaragoza, joining the CAI at that time, to perform the duties of youth academy manager. At that time between 2012 and 2018, Aday Mara joined the quarry, Luis being key to his arrival. Also at that time he had an important role in the incorporation and development of talents such as Carlos Alocén, Vit Krejci, Sergi García, Lucas Langarita or Jaime Pradilla himself.
After passing through Zaragoza, Baloncesto Torrelodones opted for him as sports director, even reaching the position of general director of the entity in 2020, before joining Lucentum Alicante last year. These tasks alternated with his aforementioned role as Scout Consultant for the Utah Jazz NBA franchise, participating in different operations, such as Simone Fontecchio’s landing in the best league in the world last summer.
