Euroleague Basketball is proud to announce that Turkish Tourism has become the Official Premium Destination partner for both the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and the Eurocup for the current 2015-16 season.
The partnership was celebrated with a presentation and press conference on Thursday at Ulker Sports Arena, prior to the start of the game between Fenerbahce Istanbul and Strasbourg.
The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism had joined Euroleague Basketball as a partner last spring at the 2015 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Madrid, and after a mutually satisfying experience, both sides agreed to continue working together this season.
This season, the Euroleague features more Turkish teams than ever, with Fenerbahce, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul and Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir. The Eurocup features four more clubs from Turkey: Banvit Bandirma, Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul, Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul and Trabzonspor Medical Park.
For the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, represented at the event by its Director General, Mr. İrfan Önal, the accumulated audience of 2.08 billion people who see Euroleague content, including growing numbers of fans in countries like Germany, Russia and France, offers a synergistic customer base for the world-class destination that is Turkey.
“As you know, Turkey is one of the most visited countries in the world. We are focused on maintaining this success in the future as a global brand, and in our promotional activities, we attach importance to making cooperation with other global brands,” Mr. Önal said. “After the our mutually successful partnership at the 2015 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Madrid, now Turkey has become the Premium Destination Official Partner of Euroleague Basketball. The partnership between the Euroleague Basketball brand, which represents the passion of basketball, and the Turkey Home brand, which describes our hospitality, excites us very much. I am sure this partnership will continue growing in the future.”
Under the agreement, the Turkish Tourism campaign called Turkey Home will enjoy a 360-degree sponsorship package of promotional assets from both the Euroleague and the Eurocup. The collaboration features the innovative “Social Wall presented by Turkey Home”, an exclusive digital platform that enhances the conversational experience around games for Euroleague fans while at the same time promoting Turkey’s beauty, experiences and singularity.
“After first working together with Turkish Tourism at the Final Four last spring, we can’t be happier with that experience and our plans to do a lot more together going forward,” Mr. Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball President and CEO, said. “This partnership with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism stresses the relevance of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Eurocup competitions as a perfect platform for brands to effectively reach an international audience. The growing number of partners and brands that engage with Euroleague Basketball show the value and attractiveness of our competitions.”
