Anadolu Efes announced that Erdem Can signed a two-year deal to become the new head coach of the team. He’s replacing Ergin Ataman and returning to the EuroLeague where he previously worked with Fenerbahce Beko as an assistant coach from 2012 to 2021.

In 2022-23, Can coached Turk Telekom with notable results. The Turkish side had a 15-5 record in EuroCup to reach the championship game in EuroCup while he was named the Coach of the Year in the competition. In Turkey, Turk Telekom made the semifinals for the first time since 2009.

In 2021-22, Can was an assistant coach to Quin Snyder on the Utah Jazz. He moved to the NBA following a long-term stint with Fener during which he won the EuroLeague championship in 2017.

As Eurohoops has reported, center Tyrique Jones, the 2023 Turkish League MVP, is expected to follow Can to Efes, together with forward Erkan Yilmaz. After winning the back-to-back EuroLeague championships of 2021 and 2022, Efes failed to make the playoffs in 2023 before finishing the season on a high note with the Turkish League title.
