As officially announced by Zalgiris Kaunas with a press release, the green-and-white club and Tyler Cavanaugh parted ways following the victories in the Lithuanian Cup and in the LKL. His season was compromised by injuries, as he played only 14 games in the 2022-23 EuroLeague with 5.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, and was forced to undergo back surgery.

“We thank Tyler for the years spent in Kaunas. He was an important part of the team, but the time has come for changes that will help both the team and the player himself. We are already working and looking for someone to replace Tyler”, the newest Zalgiris Kaunas sporting director Paulius Jankunas commented on his departure.

Having joined Zalgiris Kaunas in 2021, the George Washington University alumni made the jump to the EuroLeague in 2019, signing with ALBA Berlin after going back and forth from the NBA to the G-League. In the 2020-21 season, he played in the Basketball Champions League and ACB with Lenovo Tenerife.

“Lithuania will always remain in my memories. Kaunas means a lot to me and my wife – our daughter Josephine was born here this year. I am so happy for all the memories that happened here. Winning the title was also a very special event. The two years I spent here were memorable and the Zalgiris fans are incredible. See you soon”, the 29-year-old American forward said.
