Panathinaikos has made another domestic signing by adding Dimitris Moraitis to their roster, following the acquisition of Kostas Antetokounmpo. The Greek national team player has signed a three-year contract with the Athens-based club.
Moraitis comes to Panathinaikos after a successful season with Peristeri, where he averaged 7.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 32 matches.
The 25-year-old guard began his professional career with Panionios and then spent six years with AEK Athens, including a one-season loan to Kolossos Rodou. In 2021, he signed with Peristeri.
During his time with AEK, Moraitis won the Basketball Champions League, FIBA Intercontinental Cup, and Greek Cup.
From a young age, Dimitris Moraitis has been a part of the national team, starting with the U16 level and progressing to the U18 and U20 teams. In February 2021, he received his first call-up to the Men’s National Team to participate in the EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers. With the men’s national team, Moraitis has played 7 games, scoring 54 points.
