Olympiacos and Nikola Milutinov are on the verge of finalizing their agreement, bringing the Serbian center back to Piraeus after three seasons with CSKA Moscow.
According to information from Eurohoops, the two parties have come extremely close in recent hours, with Olympiacos increasing their initial offer (1.4 million Euros) and Milutinov subsequently lowering his initial financial demands. While there is an agreement in place, the final formalities for the official announcement of his return are yet to be settled.
The desire of both sides to reunite after the 2015-2020 season was so strong that they were willing to make concessions in order to finalize the deal, bringing the 28-year-old center back to the club where his career flourished and solidified his status as one of the top big men in European basketball.
Milutinov, being at an excellent age in his basketball career, has a strong motivation to prove himself once again following his challenging stint at CSKA, which was plagued by injuries and the team’s disqualification due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. Despite the setbacks, he made significant contributions during his three-year tenure there.
The Serbian center has deep connections and friendships with many players from his previous stint at Olympiacos. Additionally, he has business ventures in Greece, making the country a central part of his life both professionally and personally.
Milutinov holds a special place in the hearts of Olympiacos fans, who have passionately campaigned for his return for months. Their unwavering support has been a driving force in convincing him to rejoin the team.
