Following Erdem Can move to Anadolu Efes’ bench to replace Ergin Ataman, Tyrique Jones has been officially announced as the newest center of the Turkish powerhouse, staying with the head coach that brought him to the EuroCup in the summer of 2022.
The 26-year-old American center was one of the best players on Turk Telekom Ankara’s roster, averaging 12.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game to end the season as runner-up, losing in the EuroCup final against Gran Canaria and being named into the 2022-23 All-EuroCup Second team. In the Turkish domestic league, Tyrique Jones was also dominant, being named MVP with 14.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
The Xavier University product, who made the jump to Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2020, also played in Italy in the 2021-22 season with Victoria Libertas Pesaro, emerging as one of the best centers in the whole LBA. Anadolu Efes has also closed a two-year deal with Derek Willis, as reported by Eurohoops sources.
