Christos Stavropoulos, the General Manager of Olimpia Milano, recently announced the agreement, which is now officially confirmed. The Italian champions have extended Shavon Shields’ contract until 2026.
“Shavon is a winner, a player of the highest level who has proven to be perfect for what we intend to continue building. We are happy that he will stay with us for a long time and contribute to the history of this club,” Stavropoulos said.
Shields joined Milan in July 2020 from Baskonia. During the past season, he became the third all-time leading scorer for Olimpia in EuroLeague and won the Legabasket title. He averaged 11.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, with an impressive 16.2 points per game in the seven-game Italian finals against Virtus Bologna.
“I’m honored that Olimpia Milano is showing me this kind of trust and confidence. I’m grateful for the opportunity to wear this jersey and represent the city of Milan and our fans. I have been a part of this project for three years, and I am excited to continue into the future. I also want to thank Mr. Armani and Mr. Dell’Orco for giving me the chance to be part of such a great organization. Let’s keep building together,” Shavon Shields expressed.
The 29-year-old started his professional career with the Frankfurt Skyliners and played for Trento in Italy during the 2017-2018 season. He has showcased his offensive skills at the highest level and was twice selected to the All-EuroLeague Second Team in 2021 and 2022.
