Interviewed by the “Kod Luka i Kuzma” podcast, Vanja Marinkovic has confirmed he will stay in Baskonia also for the 2023-24 season, denying rumors about him potentially leaving the Basque Country.
“That’s right, I’m staying in Baskonia, like most of the team. Only Thompson will most likely leave the club”, the 26-year-old Serbian guard said. After averaging 9.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 50.6% from two, 40.3% from beyond the arc, and 81.0% at the line, he will pair up with Nico Mannion, who officially joined the team after Joan Peñarroya‘s renewal.
Asked about Darius Thompson more specifically, he said that he “would like to see him in Baskonia”. “Extremely dedicated, normal, not a classic American. His wife is from Italy and I think the boyfriend is in the right place. He is linked to Milan and Fenerbahce, so we will see where he will continue his career”, Marinkovic also said about his teammate.
