Valencia releasing longtime captain Bojan Dubljevic marks the day for the Oranges.

Dubljevic, 31, previously pointing to a questionable future was officially released Friday.

Per the press release: “Bojan Dubljevic ends a successful career of eleven seasons in Valencia Basket, the last four as captain, in which he has become a Legend in the entity’s history. Since he arrived in our city in the summer of 2012, the Montenegrin center has been an indispensable piece in the last four titles for our first men’s team, being the MVP of the Endesa League Final Playoff won in 2017, in addition to lifting the trophies of the Eurocup in 2014 and 2019 and the Endesa Super Cup in 2017. After being one of the main people responsible for the growth of the entity in the last decade, Dubljevic leaves our Club as the player with the second most matches played in the men’s first team of Valencia Basket (629), the foreign player with the most games and most seasons (11) and the top scorer and rebounder in the entity’s history.”

In 2022-23, Dubljevic stuffed his fifth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign with 11.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. Ending up with a 15-19 record, his side fell four games shy of a berth in the Playoffs.

In Spain’s Liga Endesa, he put in 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Valencia narrowly made the ACB Playoffs and was eliminated by FC Barcelona in the Quarterfinals.
