“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna SpA announces that it has definitively transferred, for consideration, the rights to the sports performances of the player Semi Ojeleye to Valencia Basket Club”.
With this short announcement, Virtus Bologna confirmed the move of 29-years old forward Ojeleye to Spain, as the Italian club wants to have a more moderated budget for next season and will get a buyout from Valencia.
The Spanish club a little bit later announced officially the signing of the player for the next two seasons.
Ojeleye was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 37th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He spent the majority of his rookie season with the Celtics, appearing in 73 games and showing promise as a versatile forward. Ojeleye is known for his strong defensive skills and ability to guard multiple positions.
Throughout his NBA career, Ojeleye continued to play for the Boston Celtics, becoming a regular member of their rotation. He was valued for his defensive contributions and occasional three-point shooting. Ojeleye played four seasons with the Celtics, from 2017 to 2021, before joining the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2021-2022 season and moving to the Clippers on a four-team trade on February 2022.
On July 28, 2022, Ojeleye signed a two-year deal with Virtus Bologna, having a solid season with the Italian club.
