Crvena Zvezda has officially announced the departure of power forward Ben Bentil after one season with the club.
The 28-year-old Ghanaian player signed a contract with the Serbian club last summer and put up solid numbers during his tenure. In the EuroLeague, Bentil averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds, while in the ABA League, he averaged 8.7 points and 3.2 rebounds.
Although Bentil helped Crvena Zvezda secure the domestic title and Serbian Cup, the team fell short in their bid for the Adriatic crown, losing to Partizan Mozzart Bet in Game 5 of the Finals.
This marked Bentil’s fourth season in the EuroLeague, having previously played for Panathinaikos for two seasons and had a brief stint with Olimpia Milano, playing 23 games.
In addition to Ben Bentil, Crvena Zvezda has also decided to part ways with John Holland, Hassan Martin, and Luca Vildoza. Veteran player Stefan Markovic has chosen to retire. Meanwhile, Ognjen Dobric is expected to continue his career with Virtus Bologna, and Filip Petrusev will join the Philadelphia 76ers for the Summer League, with a potential contract offer from the team looming.
On the other hand, Crvena Zvezda has made some acquisitions, bringing back Dejan Davidovac after his season with CSKA Moscow, and securing a new deal with Luka Mitrovic. There are also reports suggesting that Milos Teodosic will join the team after spending four years in Bologna.
