One of the hottest names in the EuroLeague transfer market is Darius Thompson, following his standout season with Baskonia. According to Eurohoops sources, the 28-year-old playmaker is still waiting for the NBA but has already attracted the significant interest of several European powerhouses.
Both Anadolu Efes and Olimpia Milan – as anticipated on May 31 by Eurohoops -are in the mix to get the former Lokomotiv Kuban point guard, as Vasilije Micic left for the NBA and Kevin Pangos seems to be on the move from Italy. Ergin Ataman’s Panathinaikos is also highly interested but hasn’t made any offer yet.
The former Happy Casa Brindisi player, who was voted “Best Newcomer” by his ELPA colleagues, is coming off a EuroLeague rookie season in which he averaged 12.6 points, 6.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks, being part of the All-EuroLeague Second Team.
The top target for the Italian national team now that Paolo Banchero decided to represent Team USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Darius Thompson also contributed to a big run in the ACB Regular Season before being eliminated by Joventut Badalona in the First Round, averaging 10.2 points, 6.1 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per night in 34 games.
