After extending Isaia Cordinier, Virtus Bologna strengthened its domestic core with the addition of Bruno Mascolo on a one-year deal.

As first reported by EuroDevotion, Achille Polonara is also on the verge of joining the Italian club, with a two-year contract on the table.

Mascolo played for Bertram Derthona from 2019 to 2022 but spent last season with Happy Casa Brindisi in Legbasket, playing 30 games with an average of 8.1 points, 3.3 assists, and three rebounds.

As for Polonara, he is reportedly on the verge of returning to Italy after four years abroad with Baskonia, Fenerbahce, Anadolu Efes, and Zalgiris.

Last season, he played 35 EuroLeague games with an average of just 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in under 15 minutes on the court.

The 31-year-old power forward emerged as one of the best in his position in European basketball during his time with Baskonia. However, his role diminished with Efes, leading to Polonara moving to Zalgiris in January. He averaged 6.7 points and 6.2 rebounds in the Betsafe LKL.
