Virtus Bologna officially announced the signing of Achille Polonara with a two-year deal, confirming yesterday’s report about the negotiations.
After leaving Zalgiris Kaunas as a Lithuanian league champion, the 32-years old Polonara is returning to Italy, from where he left for the first time in the summer of 2019, winning the Spanish ACB League with Baskonia.
He then moved to Fenerbahce in 2021 and winning also the Turkish League title and then in the summer of 2022 signing with arch-rival Efes and leaving mid-season for Zalgiris.
A valuable member of the Italian national team, Polonara is expected to come off the bench behind Toko Shengelia.
Meanwhile, Devontae Cacok who was a teammate of Kostas Antetokounmpo in the Lakers back in 2020 when the team won the title, also has a deal with the Italian team, as reported first by Basketnews.
The 26-years old undersized center finished last season in CSKA Moscow in the VTB League, signing on February and getting his first European experience.
