One Kostas left, the other is staying with Olympiacos. As the Piraeus club officially confirmed, Kostas Papanikolaou is staying in Piraeus until 2026.
Minutes after announcing that Kostas Sloukas is leaving after three years, Olympiacos gave good news to the fans, as Papanikolaou will complete 10 years with the club in his second stint.
“The captain remains in his port,” stated Olympiacos.
Papanikolaou previously played for Olympiacos from 2009 to 2013 during his first tenure, securing two EuroLeague titles in his final two seasons.
He then had stints with Barcelona and attempted to make his mark in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets before reuniting with the Red and Whites in 2015.
In total, he has participated in 320 EuroLeague games for Greek and Spanish teams, averaging 7.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
