Concluding the lengthy effort to bring in Joel Parra, FC Barcelona noted his addition is pending medicals.
Parra, 23, will ink a four-year contract barring an unexpected setback.
The Catalonia giant officially confirmed the deal Friday. His previous team and Catalonia rival, Joventut Badalona additionally announced his departure noting the payment of the buyout clause on his contract, reportedly approximately one million euros.
Coming off four campaigns in the 7DAYS EuroCup, the Barcelona newcomer will debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Over 73 EuroCup appearances, he averaged 7.7 points and 3.5 rebounds. Among the leaders in the run to the Semifinals of the 2022-23 season, he averaged 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.6 steals per contest.
Last season’s efforts also stretched into Spain’s Liga Endesa with Parra averaging 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest by logging 40 appearances all the way to the Playoffs Semifinals with his side falling to Real Madrid in four games. The Badalona youth product left with a total of 154 games played in the ACB since his senior debut in December of 2017.
Navigating budget restrictions, Barca has yet to fully complete a summer signing, apart from naming Roger Grimau as the successor of Sarunas Jasikevicius at the head-coaching position. Parra is the first new player, while ongoing efforts can secure the services of both Willy and Juan Hernangomez. Shaping early signs of a busy offseason were departing players including Nikola Mirotic, Kyle Kuric, and Sertac Sanli.
