Panathinaikos has signed Jerian Grant as its seventh reinforcement of the summer, and the next addition could be Ioannis Papapetrou. As reported by SDNA.gr and confirmed by Eurohoops, the Greek forward is expected to return to Athens.

The newly appointed head coach of the Greek club, Ergin Ataman, has given the green light for a two-year deal with the 29-year-old forward, who previously played for Panathinaikos from 2018 to 2022, donning the green jersey.

Panathinaikos is thus close to strengthening its domestic core, having already added Kostas Sloukas, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Dimitris Moraitis, and bringing back Dinos Mitoglou.

Papapetrou played for Olympiacos from 2013 to 2018 before moving to Panathinaikos, where he spent four years at the OAKA Arena. Last summer, he made his first international move by signing with Partizan.

While working with Zeljko Obradovic, he won the ABA League title and averaged 6.5 points in the regional competition. In EuroLeague, Papapetrou averaged 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds, with the Belgrade club being stopped in Game 5 of the playoffs by Real Madrid.
