Mateusz Ponitka is on the market after leaving Panathinaikos. As reported by Mozzart Sport, the Polish forward is close to signing with Partizan.
The ABA league champions have a spot open at the small forward position after Ioannis Papapetrou left the club to return to Panathinaikos.
Ponitka admitted that he is negotiating with several teams including Crvena Zvezda, but it seems that Partizan is the front-runner at this moment.
Before moving to the green-and-white Greek powerhouse in late summer of 2022, Mateusz Ponitka signed a deal with the Basketball Champions League Italian side Reggio Emilia. However, after playing an amazing EuroBasket 2022, dragging Poland to the semifinals by beating Luka Doncic’s Slovenia, Panathinaikos paid a buyout clause to bring him to Greece.
Growing up with Kasprowiczanka Ostrów Wielkopolski’s youth system, the Polish small forward played also with Filou Oostende, Zielona Gora, Pinar Karsiyaka, Tenerife, Lokomotiv Kuban, and finally Zenit Saint Petersburg, leaving the Russian team at the end of the 2021-22 season.
