Panathinaikos announces the return of Ioannis Papapetrou to our team for the next two years. After a season with Partizan, the Greek forward returnest to the green uniform.
In his first statements after his return to Panathinaikos, Ioannis Papapetrou told paobc.gr:
“I am very happy to have returned to my family. There is great excitement and huge motivation on my part. I don’t want to say much now, the rest will be discussed on the pitch. I would like from the bottom of my heart to thank Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the Panathinaikos organization and the world for the love they show me. Appointment at OAKA“.
In 2012, Papapetrou enrolled at the University of Texas and played in the College Championship with the Texas Longhorns.
In August 2013, Ioannis Papapetrou returned to Greece and signed a cooperation contract with Olympiakos. With the red and whites, he won two Greek championships (2015 and 2016) and an Intercontinental Cup (2013).
In the summer of 2018, he signed a contract with Panathinaikos where he competed until the summer of 2022, winning with him 3 Greek Championships (2019, 2020, 2021), 2 Cups (2019, 2021) and 1 Super Cup (2021).
On July 19, 2022, he signed with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade with which he won the Adriatic League, having 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
