In a strange turn of events, Nikola Mirotic is suddenly off the market despite having talks in recent weeks with Monaco, Milan, Olympiacos, and Panathinaikos among others.
Olympiacos was the first team that ended talks with the Spanish-Montenegrin superstar and the others followed, since there’s no indication yet how the logjam with his contract with Barcelona can be surpassed.
Of course, Barcelona wants Mirotic’s contract off their books for next season, as “Mundo Deportivo” explained, however, it’s unclear when there will be a deal between the two sides and when Mirotic will be available.
In a similar case, not that long ago and with less money involved, Barcelona kept under contract Tyrese Rice and even paid him to play with their B team for one season.
That’s not going to happen again with Mirotic, of course, but so far Barcelona’s moves provoked a hard reaction from the side of the player and practically there’s no timetable for when this mess will be fixed.
The main suitors of the player are already moving elsewhere and if and when there’s an agreement for his release, it seems that a move to Serbia might be his only option left.
