Crvena Zvezda announced that the club has parted ways with star guard Facu Campazzo. The Argentinian player was signed to a contract until 2023-24 that included an opt-out clause that he exercised to return to Real Madrid.
“After Luca Vildoza, Campazzo became the second Argentinian to wear the jersey and logo of Red Star. With his behavior on and off the court, he did his best to represent the club in the right way but also help the team achieve the best possible results on the court,” Zvezda mentioned in the official announcement. Campazzo won the 2023 Serbian League and Cup titles with Red Star.
Campazzo, 32, joined Zvezda on December 2022 to make his comeback to Europe after spending two seasons in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets and having a short run with the Dallas Mavericks last year. He had 15.0 points, 5.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals over just nine EuroLeague games due to a transfer ban on Red Star that prevented him from playing before March 2023.
In ABA League, Campazzo averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals in 24 appearances.
