Former Basketball Champions League MVP Chima Moneke is expected to leave AS Monaco and is reportedly close to signing with Baskonia according to El Correo.

Moneke signed a contract until 2024 with Monaco in January to return to Europe after a first-time NBA stint with the Sacramento Kings. The Nigerian forward actually had his top EuroLeague performance against Baskonia, producing 14 points and 13 rebounds in an away win for Monaco.

Overall in 2022-23, Moneke averaged 3.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 12:37 minutes over 16 games in his debut EuroLeague run as Monaco made the Final Four for the first time in the history of the club, finishing third in the tournament. In the French League, he posted 10.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in the regular season, along with 8.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in the playoffs to help Monaco win its first-ever championship title.

Before his move to the Kings, Moneke was crowned the 2022 Basketball Champions League as a player of BAXI Manresa.

So far in the 2023 offseason, Baskonia has signed forward Nikos Rogkavopoulos and guard Nico Mannion.
