Another chapter will be opening for Rokas Giedraitis.

Giedraitis, 30, was released from his contract with Baskonia, the team announced Friday evening.

Since joining the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, he developed into the team captain through the 2022-23 season.

The departing Lithuanian swingman upped his total of games played Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to 122, including 97 with Baskonia. In the most recent edition of Europe’s premier club continental competition, he averaged 10.4 points behind 44% from the field alongside 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.9 steals per contest over 34 appearances, including 32 starts. With an 18-16 record, his side missed a berth in the Playoffs by a margin of one game.

Making his way to 33 games of the previous edition of Spain’s Liga Endesa, Giedraitis tallied 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per contest. In a disappointing ending, the team coached by Joan Penarroya was eliminated by Joventut Badalona in the Quarterfinals of the ACB Playoffs, despite ranking second in the Regular Season.

The breakout stint with ALBA Berlin stretching from 2018 to 2020 produced the remaining EuroLeague appearances, besides leading him to ink a three-year contract with Baskonia. Earlier, he made his way to 64 games of the 7DAYS EuroCup between ALBA Berlin and Lietuvos Rytas. Introducing himself to the European level, he logged six appearances with Siauliai in the 2014-15 EuroChallenge.

Apart from the club career, the 2019 FIBA World Cup and 2022 EuroBasket are the highlights of representing Lithuania at the senior level since 2017.
