Being an important factor in AS Monaco’s path to the 2023 Final Four, the 32-year-old Donatas Motiejunas could jump into Ergin Ataman’s Panathinaikos. According to Eurohoops sources, after his contract with AS Monaco expired, he is now in talks with the green-and-white Greek powerhouse.
After playing in Lithuania, he wore the jerseys of Pallacanestro Treviso and Prokom Gdynia, attracting interest from the US. Selected with the No.20 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, he was then traded to the Houston Rockets, playing for New Orleans and the San Antonio Spurs.
Before coming back to Europe in 2021, he spent time in China with the Shandong G. Stars, Shanghai Sharks, and Xinjiang Fl. Tigers, emerging as one of the best players in the Chinese championship.
The Lithuanian center could be the latest addition by Panathinaikos following Kyle Guy, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Dimitris Moraitis, Luca Vildoza, Matthias Lessort, Dinos Mitoglou, Kostas Sloukas, Ioannis Papapetrou, and Jerian Grant.
Panathinaikos is in contact with Donatas Motiejunas per Eurohoops sources. The Lithuanian big man can be the replacement of Papagiannis. He has an opt-out clause in his contract with Monaco.
