The Bayern basketball team announced their first signing: Argentinian international Leandro Bolmaro signed a two-year contract. The 22-year-old guard ended last season in the Spanish ACB for Lenovo Tenerife in the year and a half before that he had 49 appearances in the NBA for Minnesota and Utah.
The “Most Spectacular Player” of the 2020/21 ACB season – back then for FC Barcelona – was selected number 23 by the New York Knicks in the NBA draft in the Corona spring of 2020 and then traded.
As the Argentinian forward said: “Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and Pablo Laso is now the coach there, so the choice was easy for me,” said Bolmaro, who is currently still in his native Argentina in the Córdoba region. “I was in contact with Pablo back in the spring, and of course, we knew each other from many duels at the ACB. I’m looking forward to him and Bayern.”
Head coach Laso is of course satisfied with the deal.
As he said: “Lea is a steal. He has EuroLeague and NBA experience and is a young talent who can defend any position. At the same time, as a pure point guard on offense, he can set the pace. He’s tall and athletic and his great mentality makes him one of Argentina’s brightest hopes.”
