Crvena Zvezda has been one of the most dominant teams during the summer market showing that they are quite ambitious and are thinking pretty big ahead of the upcoming season.
How big is that? Zvezda’s budget sum for the 2023-24 season has been confirmed to be €12,000,000 during the club’s general assembly meeting that took place Wednesday (19/7) according to Mozzart Sport. It’s the highest budget for the basketball department in the club’s history.
So far in the 2023 offseason, Zvezda has completed several notable transfers adding some hot names in the market in a massive renovation. They made a modest start with the return of forward Dejan Davidovac and then announced the signings of EuroLeague superstar guard Milos Teodosic, guard Shabazz Napier (who arrives after a brilliant debut run in EuroLeague with Olimpia Milano), guard Yago dos Santos, center Mike Tobey, center Joel Bolomboy and forward Rokas Giedraitis and swingman Adam Hanga.
Red Star also renewed Luka Mitrovic’s and Stefan Lazarevic’s contracts while signing young guard Nikola Topic to his first pro deal.
Zvezda star guard Nemanja Nedovic had warned fans to expect big changes coming this summer after the end of the ABA League Finals. Indeed, Facu Campazzo left, as expected, for Real Madrid and Luca Vildoza took his talents to Panathinaikos. Hassan Martin will play in Japan and Ognjen Dobric joined Virtus Bologna.
