Virtus Bologna officially signed combo guard Jaleen Smith to a contract until 2025.

Smith, 28, will play outside of Germany for the first time in his professional career after stints with USC Heidelberg, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and, most recently, ALBA Berlin.

A former German League MVP in 2021, Smith won the 2022 German League and Cup titles with ALBA. Last season, he posted 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists in EuroLeague, along with 12.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists in Germany.

Smith becomes the fourth new signing of Virtus this summer after forward Achille Polonar, forward Ognjen Dobric and big man Devontae Cacok. The Italian side has also renewed the contracts of wings Marco Belinelli and Awudu Abass.
