Luca Baraldi, the CEO of Virtus Segafredo Bologna, has made it clear that Tornike Shengelia will remain with the Italian club despite interest from Panathinaikos.

In an announcement via the club’s official website, Baraldi confirmed that Shengelia is not available for transfer and that there have been no negotiations with other clubs.

Regarding what has emerged regarding Toko Shengelia’s position, we believe it is appropriate to clarify that the player is not on the market and his transfer has never been negotiated with other clubs. We confirm that Toko, in relation to the existing contract, will be part of the Virtus Segafredo Bologna roster also in the next season,” Baraldi said.

Panathinaikos had expressed interest in the experienced power forward, with him planing to discuss contract termination with Virtus. However, it appears that the Georgian national team captain will be staying with Bologna.

Throughout the last season in the EuroLeague, the 31-year-old Shengelia put up impressive numbers, averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. Over the course of his European career, he holds an average of 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, two assists, and 0.9 steals.
