After playing last season in France with Nancy and also in Puerto Rico, NBA veteran Mike Scott will have the chance to play in the EuroLeague with Tony Parker owned ASVEL next season.
Per EuroLeague’s press release: Mike Scott, a player with nine years of experience in the NBA, has signed for LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on a one-year deal. Scott (2.03 meters, 35 years old) played outside the United States for the first time in his career last season, averaging 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27 French League games for SLUC Nancy Basket. The veteran forward will make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut in the upcoming campaign.
Through eight regular-season campaigns in the NBA, Scott appeared in 555 games across five teams. After being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2012 NBA Draft, he spent the first five years of his career with the franchise. In that time, Scott played 281 regular-season contests with Atlanta and 31 times in the playoffs.
His best campaign with the Hawks came in 2013-14, as he posted 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 80 regular-season games. That season in the playoffs, he averaged 9.4 points and 2.6 rebounds, his best scoring figures as an Atlanta player in the postseason.
Ahead of the 2017-18 season, Scott signed for the Washington Wizards and went on to average 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists, while in six playoff games he had a playoff career-high 10.8 points, as well as 3.5 rebounds. The following summer, he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he came off the bench in 52 regular-season contests in 2018-19, before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2019. Scott impressed in the remainder of the campaign, averaging 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 27 regular-season games and 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 10 playoff games, which resulted in Philadelphia giving him a two-year extension.
Scott played a further 119 regular-season games for the Sixers over the next two seasons, as well as nine playoff games. His next stop ended up being with Nancy in October 2022 as he took his talents to France. He also played 24 games for Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rico, too. Now, Scott returns to France and begins his EuroLeague adventure after penning a deal with ASVEL.
