As reported by Eurohoops, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul has added young talent to its roster by signing a multi-year deal with forward Yigit Hamza Mestoglu, the club announced on Monday.
Mestoglu (2.03 meters, 19 years old) arrives from La Roda of the Spanish third division, where he posted 8.7 points on 45.2% three-point shooting, along with 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
The young forward has spent the last four years in Spain. Mestoglu moved as a 15-year old where he played in lower divisions with UCAM Murcia’s second team for a couple of years but even appeared with the first team in a pair of Spanish League games.
Mestoglu grew up with Banvit Bandirma and has been representing his country in youth categories since 2019. Last summer, he helped Turkey win a silver medal at the U18 European Championship.
For this coming season, the plan for Mestoglu is to be mostly playing for Fenerbahce’s second division team, but will also be a part of head coach Dimitris Itoudis’s first team roster.
