Following Doğuş Özdemiroğlu’s long-term injury with the Turkish national team during the Trentino Basket Cup against Italy, Anadolu Efes decided to replace him on the market. According to Eurohoops sources, Justus Hollatz will continue his career in Istanbul next year.
Cedevita Olimpija officially moved Hollatz to Efes and his new team confirmed the transfer on Wednesday. The team based in Ljubljana noted he will be loaned to the Istanbul outfit through the 2023-24 season.
The 22-year-old point guard, who is set to play the 2023 FIBA World Cup with the German national team, previously signed for Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana this summer, joining the new head coach Simone Pianigiani. His spot in the Slovenian BKT EuroCup club will be taken by Leo Westermann, according to Eurohoops sources.
In the 2022-23 season, Justus Hollatz played with Rio Breogan in the ACB, averaging 7.9 points – with 51.4% from inside the two-point range and 32.2% from beyond the arc -, 3.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. In the same league with Obradoiro, 31-year-old Leo Westermann had 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
