A late addition in the form of Alexey Shved is in the cards for Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet.
The Serbia giant located in Belgrade revamping the roster resulted in nine newcomers during the offseason.
Seeking a tenth reinforcement, Zvezda is in advanced talks with the experienced Russian combo guard, according to Serbian outlet Telegraf.
Shved, 34, has played in 187 games of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, spread between CSKA and Khimki Moscow Region. The two-time recipient of the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy recently revealed talks with Olympiacos and was reportedly linked to moving his talents to China’s CBA but returning to the premier club continental competition of Europe is resurfacing through Red Star.
Focusing the 2022-23 campaign on the VTB United League, leading to the conclusion of his second stint at CSKA, the former NBA player produced 16.6 points, 7.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game over 32 games played until a serious head injury stemming from an attack by a hooligan in Moscow prematurely ended his season in early May.
The team coached by Dusko Ivanovic previously reunited with Dejan Davidovac, also a member of CSKA through the 2022-23 season. Other summer signings are Joel Bolomboy, Yago Dos Santos, Rokas Giedraitis, Adam Hanga, Shabazz Napier, Marko Simonovic, Milos Teodosic, and Mike Tobey, while Ognjen Kuzmic, Stefan Lazarevic, Branko Lazic, Luka Mitrovic, and Nikola Topic all penned contract extensions. Dalibor Ilic, Nemanja Nedovic, and Miroslav Raduljica are under contract as well.
