After making no less than 11 new signings, Panathinaikos parted ways with another player from last season’s roster as Georgios Kalaitzakis leaves the club.
The Greens officially released the Greek forward after a season in his second stint with the club.
“Georgios Kalaitzakis, thank you for contributing to our team, and we wish you the best in your life and career.”
The 24-year-old started his professional career with Panathinaikos in 2016 and moved overseas in 2021 when the Indiana Pacers selected him as the 60th overall draft pick and traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks.
After playing just nine games, he moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder, firstly to play for their G League affiliate, but at the end of the season, Kalaitzakis recorded four appearances for the Thunder, averaging an impressive 17.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, three assists, and 2.5 steals.
Still, last summer, he returned to Panathinaikos and played 26 games in the EuroLeague, spending less than 10 minutes on the court on average and scoring two points with 1.1 rebounds per game. He also averaged 6.7 points with 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in the Greek League.
