Jabari Parker believes Barcelona can compete in the NBA

Jabari Parker is more than confident that his Barcelona team could play in the NBA, considering some of the star players featured on the roster.

“Definitely,” Parker said when asked if Barcelona can compete in the NBA in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. “Because we have, essentially, three guys who aren’t just NBA players but main guys. Myself, Sato [Tomas Satoransky] and Willy [Hernangomez], and the experience is there because we’ve been playing professionally for a long time.”

Parker, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, signed with Barcelona this summer to play overseas for the first time in his career. When he was with the Bucks, he suffered two torn ACL injuries in the same knee over a span of 26 months (December 2014 and February 2017), something that affected his NBA trajectory.

After eight seasons in the NBA, the 28-year-old forward joined Barca on a one-year deal that includes an NBA opt-out clause.

“I just want to be here,” Parker said, answering a question on whether it is his dream to get back to the NBA. “My most important thing is not skipping steps. And I signed here with the intention of giving my all. I think being in the moment is very important for me.”

“Above all, I want to be part of something winning,” Parker added. “I hope we can be one of the best teams and put everything we have into achieving it.”
