As announced by Ohio University, where he established himself as a legend from 1999-2003, the 42-year-old Brandon Hunter sadly passed away.
While death reasons remain currently unclear, on social media hundreds of messages of condolences and support to his family have been published in the last few hours. Former Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors player TJ Ford said they “just spoke last week” and that he is “losing a lot of friends lately”.
After being selected with the 56th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and playing also for the Orlando Magic and the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the D-League, the former Ohio Bobcats player moved overseas.
Once in Europe, he joined Panathinaikos before moving his talents for two years in Italy, representing Naples, Livorno, and Biella. He also replaced NBA star Shawn Kemp in Montegranaro for the 2008-09 season. Until his retirement, who came in 2013, he also played in other European clubs such as Hapoel Jerusalem and Bayreuth, while taking some time in South America as well.
