The 2023 MagentaSport Cup concluded with FC Bayern Munich scoring a comeback victory. The team guided by Pablo Laso took down Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, 84-82, in BMW Park on Sunday.
Carsen Edwards and Devin Booker combined for 38 points, 20 and 18, respectively. Sylvain Francisco replaced Leandro Bolmaro in the lineup and paired 13 points with six assists. Vladimir Lucic, Serge Ibaka, Niels Giffey, Isaac Bonga, Andreas Obst, and Freddie Gillespie were out.
Completing the comeback with an 8-0 sprint, the tournament hosts gained the first lead late in the friendly contest and held on down the stretch. They were down by a margin of ten points earlier in the fourth quarter.
Adam Hanga ending up with 15 points and Luka Mitrovic following with 13 points were not enough for the visitors. Stefan Lazarevic, Dejan Davidovac, Shabazz Napier, and Mike Tobey were sidelined.
Prevailing in Saturday’s Semifinals sent Bayern and Crvena Zvezda to the first-place game.
Virtus Bologna settles in third place
Earlier, Virtus Segafredo Bologna blew up the third-place game in the fourth quarter en route to the 90-76 victory versus ALBA Berlin.
Highlighting the list of five double-digit scorers for the winning side, Jordan Mickey went for 14 points and Isaia Cordinier followed with 13 points. Alessandro Pajola, Ognjen Dobric, Gabriel Iffe Lundberg, and Achille Polonara were not available for the tournament.
For the team based in Berlin, Christ Koumadje, Louis Olinde, and Yanni Wetzell were sidelined with injuries. Johannes Thiemann was out as well.
