Presented to the media in Munich, the 34-year-old veteran Serge Ibaka officially started his adventure in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Bayern, sharing this experience with one of the best head coaches in the competition’s history Pablo Laso.
“It’s a privilege to join this historic sports club”, he first said.
Then, he went on to talk about him being a “decisive factor” in his decision process before signing.
“It’s a great coach, a great person: that’s the most important. At this level of my career, it’s important for me when I’m working to work with a good person. At the end of the day, basketball is a game. And it’s important that when I’m spending a year of working hard and traveling, to make sure I’m working with a great person. And that’s Pablo”, he then added about the Spanish head coach.
The Spanish head coach was on Real Madrid‘s bench in 2011-12, when during the NBA lockout Serge Ibaka came back to Europe to play six EuroLeague games. In that stretch, he averaged 5.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
