Olympiacos made official the addition of Ignas Brazdeikis and the press release included a small surprise. The player signed a three-year deal. There’s no clarification about any possible opt-out clauses, however, the Greeks made sure that they would have him for the long run.

What’s not a surprise at this point is that Brazdeikis moved to Greece, since he publicly confirmed the deal a few hours ago.

Speaking on the issue, Zalgiris GM Paulius Jankunas why the Lithuanian club decided to sell the player, despite his contract not having a buyout clause: “At this stage of the season, I don’t want big changes, but after receiving an offer from the Euroleague finalists, Brazdeikis expressed his desire to leave the team. Olympiacos also approached us, so we had to look for a common solution and the best conditions in the current situation. In the negotiations, we expressed our position, with which the other side agreed, and we had to make this difficult decision. In any case, we thank Ignas for the years spent here”.

Brazdeikis, 24, penned a 1+1 contract to join the Kaunas outfit before the 2022-23 season.

That’s why Zalgiris will get a 500,000 euro buyout to let him go, while he is expected to sign a two-year deal with Olympiacos.

Debuting in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the Kaunas native produced 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game over 35 appearances, including 28 starts in 2022-23. The earlier part of his career included 64 games played in the NBA between the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and New York Knicks.
