Crvena Zvezda made significant changes to the roster during the summer, forming a formidable team with additions like Shabazz Napier, Milos Teodosic, Adam Hanga, Nemanja Bjelica, and Rokas Giedratitis. That’s why the president of the club, Nebojsa Covic, expects good results in the upcoming season.
The team ended the preparatory period with three close losses to Bayern Munich, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Zalgiris, and will open the season on September 30 against Igokea in the ABA League. On October 5th, in the EuroLeague, they will host ASVEL.
“We are nearing the end of the preparatory phase for the new season. The team is very strong, and our coaching staff, led by a highly experienced coach, is excellent. Of course, during the preparation period, you win, you lose, you assess the strengths but also what needs improvement… We’re moving forward, and I expect that we will achieve good results this year in all the competitions that Red Star participates in – ABA League, Serbian Cup, and the domestic championship, which is very important for us as a club from Serbia. We are not a club that will leave the domestic championship while taking money from the state,” Covic said.
Zvezda was on the verge of the EuroLeague playoffs last season but now wants to go even further.
“What’s important for us, and where we’ll try to make a big leap, is the EuroLeague, where our goal will be the Final Four. What they’re saying now, whether it’s this way or that way, we’ll see,” Covic concluded.”
