Virtus Segafredo Bologna announced that Italian national team player Achille Polonara will undergo surgery for the removal of a recently detected testicular neoplasm.
The recovery period will be communicated after the operation, according to the official report.
Polonara joined Virtus last summer and returned to Italian basketball after four years.
He was scoreless in the Euroleague opening round loss to Zalgiris but has averaged six points and 7.5 rebounds per match at the start of the season in Legabasket.
